THE THAI CAT
- "the revival of the "moon diamond"
The Thai cat is the REAL Siamese cat and thus one of the oldest known and bred cat breeds in the world. The oldest records come from the "Tamra Maew", a manuscript of poems and drawings from the Kingdom of Siam from the period 1350 - 1767 which is kept in the National Library of Thailand. In Thailand, the Siamese cat still bears the historical name "Wichien-maat" (วิเชียรมาศ), which means something like "Moon Diamond".
If you take a closer look at the pedigree of a Thai cat, you will sooner or later find Siamese cats among the ancestors, since outcrossing with moderate Siamese is permitted according to the current breed standard. Crossbreeding with foreign breeds such as British Shorthair, Burmese, European Shorthair or Exotic Shorthair is neither permitted nor desired, since both the type in terms of the breed standard suffers (undercoat, round heads, stocky bodies, wrong colors) and the unmistakable Siamese character is lost.
THE DOG AMONG THE CATS -
"extremely affectionate and talkative fur noses"
If you're looking for a breed that will follow you around and develop an exceptionally affectionate relationship with you, then the Thai cat is a great choice. The Thai likes to form a very close bond with a certain person and remain faithful for a lifetime. Because of their loyalty to people, the Thai cat is called the "dog among cats". The Thai cat is ideal as a family cat because it is very good with children.
The beautiful pointed cat is always curious and open-minded: she examines everything unknown extensively and examines it "expertly". She is extremely skilful: for example, she quickly finds out how to open doors or carry off various interesting things. With a little patience, some Thai cats can even walk on a leash and accompany their people on walks outside. They love too clearance, if there is the possibility of being able to grant it.
A Thai cat is a housemate that requires intensive care - and even then, she needs it definitely the company of a conspecific . Optimally, you take littermates or choose a cat with a similar personality as a roommate for the Thai. Therefore, we either give away our kittens only two or on a household in which a cat or dog already lives !
EXCEPTION: Kittens that can be given free rein can also be placed alone.
