CATS ALLERGY- ? ? ?
"Unfortunately" a very unpleasant and controversial question that I am asked again and again with pleasure and often:
"are Thai cats hypoallergenic"?
LIFE WITHOUT A CAT IS POSSIBLE BUT POINTLESS
"Are there cats for allergy sufferers?"
For allergy sufferers, hypoallergenic cats seem to be THE SOLUTION. But beware, the name is irritating: hypoallergenic (allergy-friendly) cats are indeed allergenic, although the allergic reaction in many people is milder.
"What's different about a hypoallergenic cat?"
Thai cats have a short, fine coat without an undercoat and produce less of the allergen FEL D1 and hardly lose any hair
In addition, female cats are particularly hypoallergenic compared to males.
Allergy sufferers should therefore tend to buy a female cat.
IS A THAI CAT THE SOLUTION?
This is a question that anyone who wants a cat can only answer themselves:
CONCLUSION: The physical response to allergens cannot be generalized, but is always individual:
there are strong allergy sufferers who do not react at all, and there are weak allergy sufferers who react strongly.
So what I advise everyone who wants to have a Thai is not to do an allergy test in the laboratory, but directly on the Thai cat ON-SITE. We have the opportunity to stroke and cuddle our cats and to learn how to react on site.
